28 Eid al-Fitr, or “festival of breaking the fast”, is an important religious holiday celebrated by muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadhan. The Eid holiday is coming, and since the majority of Indonesian are muslims, we have quite a long holiday during the Eid al-Fitr. Whether we are muslims or not, whether we celebrate the Eid or not, there is this tradition in Indonesia where people are going back to their hometown during the holiday; a homecoming, or in Indonesian terms is famous as “mudik”. Regarding to this matter, recently we conducted a survey in order to see the habit and preference of Indonesians for “mudik”. In this part of survey series report, we will focus on respondents who “mudik” using public transportation. This survey was conducted to 1067 respondents of JAKPAT who choose public transportation for “mudik” this year. Apparently, we found that online purchasing for buying tickets is popular among respondents, and most of them buy the tickets within a week before Eid al-Fitr.
