2025 Ramadan Hampers Preferences: from Cookies to Groceries

Ramadan is around the corner; various preparations are starting to be made to welcome this holy moment. Jakpat conducted a survey to find out plans for the month of Ramadan 2025. The report, which involved 1702 Muslim respondents, showed what are the shopping expenses for the holy month, preparations for making food for suhoor and iftar, to homecoming plans.

As many as 82% of respondents admitted that they would give alms/zakat/infaq in the month of Ramadan 2025. Other expenses are Ramadan shopping for food (75%), iftar gathering (66%), and Ramadan shopping (62%). Meanwhile, 37% of respondents prepared funds for going home or mudik.

In terms of spending, 52% of respondents stated that they spend more budget compared to non-Ramadan months. On the other hand, 38% feel that they will spend more money than last year’s Ramadan.

Head of Research of Jakpat, Aska Primardi assessed, based on the shopping trend from year to year, there is a pattern where the highest spending momentum always occurs in the months of Ramadan and Eid.

“However, the condition of the last few years shows that the increase in expenditure is not directly proportional to the amount of income that has stagnated or even decreased. And in the end, there is an increase in the percentage of people who consider that spending for Ramadan and Eid 2025 will be higher than last year,” he explained.

Talking about Ramadan shopping, 91% of respondents plan to buy clothes. Worship equipment (68%) and fashion accessories (58%) are also popular. Based on gender, women tend to shop more for fashion accessories, footwear, and cosmetics/skincare. Meanwhile, men shop more for worship equipment, gadgets, and electronic equipment than women.

In general, respondents like to shop for Ramadan online. However, there are some items that prefer to be purchased directly (in-store), namely home furniture (86%), gadgets (81%), and vehicles (77%).

Socializing in Ramadan

Most respondents plan to give food as Ramadan hampers, such as cookies (61%), snacks/packaged drinks (53%), and basic necessities (45%). Regarding the budget, 22% of them budget IDR 250-500 thousand for one hamper, and 35% plan to give it in the fourth week of Ramadan.

Another social activity that is also quite in demand in Ramadan 2025 is the iftar gathering. They are looking forward to the iftar event attended by family (71%), close friends (63%), and school/college friends (43%).
