Segmentation Based Survey: Fast Food Consumer – Survey Report

Fast food industry in Indonesia is facing an intense competition in the channel. Numbers of new fast food chain open their new restaurants in several provinces where they never have before. Meanwhile, the prominent leading fast food restaurants are not only expanding, but also maintaining their current consumer by penetrating the sub-urban area, and/or opening more stores in the cities where they already own fast food restaurant. However, expanding the number of restaurant only seem to be not the only and ultimate solution. Moreover, this industry need to understand their consumer well.

By conducting a survey toward our panel, we try to map their fast food consumption based on their motivation. Thus, this survey do not merely discuss about fast food consumer characteristic based on their demographic or socio economic segment, but based on their motivation of consuming fast food. According to our result, most respondents in this survey consume fast food because of three most prominent reasons; delicious taste, fast service, and easiness (practical issue). These motives then become our main variable in investigating further issue. According to our survey result, we find that respondent motive of consumption do not merely affect all aspects of their consumption behaviour pattern. The most prominent difference is shown regarding their method of buying fast food. Moreover, we also find that most respondents in this survey prefer Indonesian food type to replace fast food menu if the fast food restaurant they once desired is not available.

Indonesia E-commerce Habit Report 2017

E-commerce has been a hot topic in Indonesia thanks to Tokopedia, Bukalapak, Rocket’s Lazada, and online transportation Gojek, Grab, and Uber—for making it possible to shift the purchasing behavior of Indonesian people from offline retailer to online platform. But recently when media reported the slowing economy due to the decline of purchasing power, people then pointed that maybe it’s because of online disruption.

Apparently, online shopping only contributed not bigger than 1% to Indonesia’s GDP, meaning that the purchasing power still came from the offline activities. Looking beyond, it is still a challenge for online businesses to crack the buying behavior of Indonesian people. The trigger to buy online is because of discount and cheaper price, since people would still buy from offline store despite higher price than online.

JAKPAT conducted a survey towards 1241 respondents who are active online shoppers. Through this survey JAKPAT conducts an investigation of their online shopping habits  JAKPAT conducts an investigation of their online shopping habits.

Indonesia Social Media Trend Report Q4 2017

“Social media has become an inseparable communication platform in our lives. At some point, social media that earlier known only as the social networking platform, then extend its functionality in several aspects, such as information searching platform, broadcasting a live event, and become people’s diary or life journal. However, although social media seems to play a pivotal role in our life, we may see a changing landscape of this industry. We regularly measure the trend of social media usage in quarter basis. Surprisingly, we find that the ups and downs of certain social media platform happen very quickly within a year. Take a look at Path as a social media platform that once very popular in earlier this year turns down to become the least popular platform within this quarter for instance.”

At the end of 2017, JAKPAT conducted a survey of social media trends for the fourth quarter of 2017. Several findings, we compared the trend between the first quarter and the fourth quarter of 2017. This survey was conducted on 4379 respondents active users of social media.

Kue Artis Kekinian – Survey Reports 2017

Kehadiran “kue artis” di tengah keberadaan beragam oleh-oleh daerah menjadi hal yang menarik untuk diperbincangkan; bagaimana kue artis kekinian mencoba bersanding dengan oleh-oleh khas dari tiap daerah di mana kue artis tersebut dipasarkan. Survei ini mencoba mencari tahu pendapat responden kami terhadap keberadaan kue artis kekinian yang semakin merajalela di banyak daerah. Kami berhasil melibatkan sebanyak 1908 responden yang di antaranya 61.22% adalah laki-laki dan 38.78% perempuan.

  • Adapun hasil survei yang akan Anda temukan dalam data kami (data bisa diunduh pada akhir artikel ini) meliputi:
  • Presentase responden yang sudah mengetahui kue artis dan yang sudah mencoba rasanya

Segmentation Survey: Soda Drinker – Survey Report

Formerly known in medical world, soda has outgrew their origins and became a widely consumed beverage since 1840s, available cheaply for the masses. Eventhough for some people soda might be a bad choice of drink because they believe consuming soda can ruin their health, soda still become people’s favorite drink until now. People drink soda for various reasons. To find out more, we conducted a survey to gain an insight about soda consuming behavior especially motivation for consuming soda. Among all the motivations for consuming soda which mentioned by respondents, we find top three reasons; because it is refreshing, soda taste good, and they like the taste. In this survey, we use these three reasons as the basic aspect to make the segmentation regarding soda consuming behavior by outlining several aspects.

This survey is sent to our 1.322 panel in nationwide. Overall, we can see that although respondents have different motivation, their preference of daily occasion and location to consume soda are similar. However, in addition to these two aspects there is another aspect that with the existence of different motives produce different behavior as well. These aspects are packaging preference, frequency of consuming soda, beverage replacement, and so on.

Parenting Life: How to Choose Pre School or Kindergarten – Survey Report

Pre-school and kindergarten are an important stage for children in developing their knowledge. While some parents choose home schooling, others choose to put their children in pre-school and kindergarten. At their earlier age, children need guidance to understand some concept, such as colour, shape, words, alphabets and also social skill to interact with others, both children and adults. This survey was conducted with total 1.502 respondents in Indonesia with married status. Though they haven’t child right now, some married couple already has plan for their future. Surprisingly, most of the respondent criteria for pre-school and kindergarten is not the curriculum, but on the location. They are willing to send their children to school if its distance less than 1 kilometre. It shows parents’ busy activity and safety reason so they choose closer place to their house. Indonesian parents also choose Bahasa Indonesia as language instruction at pre-school and kindergarten that shows respondents’ pride of our language. Religion based curriculum also became respondents’ choice on pre-school and kindergarten since to let the children understand the religion concept is very important at their age.

The benefit of drinking tea has become widely known as it is drinks that frequently consumed. Moreover in Indonesia especially in Java, drinking tea is like a tradition. Many of us are consuming tea for various reasons. To find out more, we conducted a survey to gain an insight about tea consumption behavior especially motivation for consuming tea. Among all the motivations for consuming tea which mentioned by respondents, we find top three reasons; because tea taste good, it helps them to keep healthy, and tea is their favorite drink. In this survey, we use these three reasons as the basic aspect to make the segmentation regarding tea consumption behavior by outlining several aspects.

This survey is sent to our 1.447 panel in nationwide. Overall, we can see that although respondents have different motivation, their preference of packaging and frequency of consuming tea are similar. The game Mobile Legends since its arrival on the mobile phone platform has become a huge trend in the community of players in Indonesia. To celebrate the spirit there was even an event dedicated to Mobile Legends community in Asia, that was held in Jakarta 1st – 3rd September 2017.  This survey was conducted in favour of joining the vibe especially here in Indonesia.
