Shampoo Consumers Behavior – Survey Report

There are numerous brands of shampoo available in the market right now. Each brand has several variations to meet the need of customers in term of hair problem or as simple as their favorite fragrances. In 2017, top 3 shampoo brands in Indonesia are Clear, Pantene, and Sunsilk (Ishida, 2017). The research conducted by JAKPAT aimed to find out top shampoo brands in 2018, top fragrances, as well as the reasons why a person decide to buy a specific shampoo. Questionnaires were distributed to 3679 respondents with the age range from 16 to 45 years old. The main result is that Pantene, Clear, and Sunsilk are still being the top 3 shampoo brands in Indonesia.

Watch My Ride: Self-Security in Online Ride Hailing – Survey Report

Recently, there was a case broke out in the media regarding a sexual harassment act conducted by the driver of online ride-hailing towards the customer. Of course, it was not the first time for a crime to have happened in the online ride-hailing service. Back on March 2018, Kumparan.com released a news article that compiles five examples of criminal modus related to online ride-hailing service. On April 2018, Metro.tempo.co released a news in which stated that in the range from 2016 to 2018, there were seven big cases (highlighted by the media) and several more relatively underrated cases, from extortion, molestation, until murder cases. Aside from those cases, online ride-hailing is indeed something people need in terms of the practicality for their daily transportation. It is true that the online ride-hailing company and the Government should watch over their regulation in regards to this matter too. However, as customers, shouldn’t we all are aware of our own self-security while using online ride-hailing service? Regarding this matter, Jakpat has conducted a survey in order to find out about online ride-hailing customers’ awareness of self-security and how their efforts to protect their self-security. This survey was conducted to 2760 respondents from across Indonesia who are the customers of online ride-hailing services, which we found from the preliminary question. Apparently, the top choice of how to protect the self-security while using online ride-hailing is to arrange their riding time or avoid certain hours when using online ride-hailing, for example, during the late night time (68,7%). You can find out more information in our full data report. Lately, there are new trends in the world of beauty, especially Korean inspired, namely tone up cream/ “instant white cream”. The instant white cream is the latest innovation that combines skincare and makeup base that has the instantaneous effect of brightening dull skin and creating an evener skin tone.

The word instant and brightening skin has attracted the attention of many Indonesians who want to have white skin like Korean people. In facts, one of the most popular products with the highest revenue in Indonesia are whitening products. Various local beauty brands have adopted these beauty trends by releasing their own products.

Regarding this trend, JAKPAT has conducted a survey towards 2,331 respondents in nationwide to explore respondents response about the trend of instant whitening cream on the market. Several topics that would be covered in this report:

Welcoming National Online Shopping Day (or commonly called “Harbolnas”) in Indonesia and Singles Day in the world is an event awaited by many people and e-commerce players. A month before Harbolnas, precisely on November 11 (“11.11”), several e-commerce and marketplaces are competing to provide the best offers in the form of free shipping promos, cashback and massive discounts for their customers. For this 11.11 shopping event, e-commerce creatively develops their marketing features and campaign such as holding quizzes and interactive games.
The growth of e-commerce and marketplace every year makes this event as one of their strategies for companies to attract their markets. According to a report from McKinsey, Indonesia’s e-commerce market in 2022 will grow to 55-65 billion US dollars. This makes Indonesia a big market share for e-commerce and marketplace participants.
To help marketers understand the opportunities this shopping phenomenon, JAKPAT has conducted a survey in order to see how Indonesian’s response and their shopping habits in this 11.11 promo event. This survey was conducted for 2,307 respondents from JAKPAT, with a total of 65.6% admitted to having shopped online at this 11.11 event.

Kinship on Social Media: Are You Connected to the Family? – Survey Report

In the modern and post-modern society, there is shifting that people nowadays tend to put their “trust” in a friendship-based relationship rather than the kinship-based relationship (Giddens, 1991). This concept is aligned with a concept in which relationship in social media platforms is built on the friendship-based relationship since people aim to build an equal relationship in the cyberspace, which they could gain from a friendship-based relationship (Trepte & Reinecke, 2011). How about the kinship-based relationship in social media then? Regarding to this matter, Jakpat conducts a survey in order to see how Indonesian’s connection with their family members in social media platforms.

This survey was conducted to 1908 respondents from across Indonesia. Apparently, respondents tend to hide some postings on social media from their family members (54,3%). You can find out more information in our full data report. Here is a list of the highlighted information:

Renting Baby Stuff – Survey Report

Babies and toddlers’ needs become the biggest expenditure of a household (tirto.id, 2018) but nowadays there is a solution for it, which is baby stuff rentals which allow parents to save some money but still can fulfill their kids’ needs. It can also help some parents to fulfill temporary needs for example for a traveling purpose. Some parents like this idea some other parents don’t. JAKPAT conducted a research aimed to find how Indonesian parents think about baby stuff rentals, what kind of stuff they like to rent, what kind of stuff they don’t want to rent, why do they rent some stuff and for what purpose, and how do they select the rental place. The respondents are 890 moms from all over Indonesia. The main result for this research is that apparently renting baby’s stuff still become the third choice for parents and they prefer to buy new even second stuff.

Trend of Beauty Perfection – Survey Report

Along with the technology development, women’s effort to gain their version of “perfect beauty” is becoming more diverse. There are many kinds of contemporary beauty perfection treatments that are getting more popular nowadays. Hence, recently Jakpat has conducted a survey in order to highlight the phenomenon of beauty perfection among Indonesian women. In this survey, we choose 7 selected treatment to focus on: eye-lashes extension, BB glow, eyebrow embroidery (commonly known in Indonesia as “sulam alis”), lips embroidery (commonly known in Indonesia as “sulam bibir”), filler, thread lift (commonly known in Indonesia as “tanam benang”).

This survey was conducted to 1662 all-female respondents from across Indonesia. Apparently, most respondents (63,84%) admit that they have NOT tried any of the beauty perfection treatment we asked in this survey; the most chosen reason be that they are “afraid of the risk of side effects” from the treatment (59,85%).
