E-commerce competition is increasing in Indonesia, both for the players and the service and products as well. Indonesians are very welcome with this. Indonesian people enthusiasm urges e-commerce players in Indonesia make a more significant consumer reach, and occasional promotion or event to gain awareness and engagement.

Jakpat conducted a survey of trends in e-commerce in Indonesia throughout 2018

  • Data collection was carried out 4 times, Q1 (March 2018), Q2 (June 2018), Q3 (September 2018), and Q4 (December 2018).
  • The questionnaires were distributed via JAKPAT mobile app

Modern moms face a new challenge in motherhood life, which is the social media trend. They could discuss anything about parenting including feeding the baby. The new trend is now not only discussing, but moms post the recipes of baby food to Instagram. This trend could affect how moms give food to their baby, perhaps more moms choose to make baby’s food on their own instead of buying store-bought food. The awareness of healthy living also encourages parents to give organic food to their baby. So, how is the position of store-bought food right now? And what about the consumption of baby biscuits?
Thus, Jakpat conducted research about baby food, focusing on the consumption of store-bought food compare to homemade food. This research also describes the consumption of baby biscuits. It was conducted at the beginning of December 2018 to 524 respondents who are moms with a baby at the age of 6 to 24 months old.

Valentine’s Day in Indonesia is celebrated but also cursed at the same time as Indonesia is a multicultural country with people from different background and thinking pattern. Some groups may hold a campaign about anti-Valentine’s Day but some other groups make a totally different campaign, for example creating a Valentine’s Day special packaging product. But what do people really think and do about this celebration of love?

Jakpat conducted a survey of 1004 respondents about 2019 Valentine’s Day. Apparently the comparison of people who celebrate and do not celebrate the day is nearly 50:50. Some people think that it doesn’t need a special day to show love, while some others once consider February 14th as a big day for them and their partner. Chocolate is also still a prominent gift for Valentine’s Day and the special packaging still attract buyers.

Indonesia Social Media Trend 2nd Semester of 2018 – Jakpat Survey Report

In the second quarter of the year 2018, Facebook and Instagram still remain the most used social media brand in Indonesia. At first, Instagram is the social media for entertainment purpose and Facebook for seeking information. But Instagram as of now has more varied content for both entertainment and informative content. Instagram has become more popular in this second quarter of 2018, getting along well with Facebook. These two social media become the daily consumption of social media users in Indonesia.

While Facebook user is 90% and Instagram user is 84% as this survey respondent, Twitter gains almost a half of Facebook user. This year and continue to the next year 2019 will be a higher potential for Twitter to gain more awareness and reach huge users. Meanwhile, Google+ users have to delete their account starting 2nd April 2019. Google+ announced to shut down due to low usage and challenges involved in maintaining a successful product that meets consumers’ expectations.

Jakpat collaborated with guest researchers to conduct a social media trend survey in Indonesia in the second semester of 2018. Data were collected twice in the third and fourth quarters of 2018.
