Lifestyle Eid Mubarak: Sending Eid Greeting Message – Survey Report by jakmin July 5, 2017 written by jakmin Eid Mubarak! The Eid is coming and people are seeking forgiveness for all their mistakes to other people. In Indonesia, the practice of seeking forgiveness is commonly be done while sending their Eid greeting as well. Practically, people will greet you with Eid Mubarak and will be followed by any sentence that show their sorry for any mistakes they did in the past. Thus, for most Indonesian Eid greeting is not simply just a greeting, but also contains their effort of seeking forgiveness from others. Based on this phenomenon, we conduct a survey to understand how our respondents are sending their Eid greeting to other people. According to our result, we find that there are several preferable method to send Eid greeting; but most of them tend to choose face to face communication and personal chat in instant messenger. Regarding the type of Eid greeting message they send, most of them are more likely sending straightforward style message. Moreover, we also find that social media is popular as well for certain respondents in this survey as the platform to send Eid greeting. The Eid holiday is coming, and since the majority of Indonesian are muslims, we have quite a long holiday during the Eid al-Fitr. Whether we are muslims or not, whether we celebrate the Eid or not, there is this tradition in Indonesia where people are going back to their hometown during the holiday; a homecoming, or in Indonesian terms is famous as “mudik”. Regarding to this matter, recently we conducted a survey in order to see the habit and preference of Indonesians for “mudik”. Uncategorized Agenda Liburan di Cuti Lebaran – JAKPAT Survey Report by jakmin June 23, 2017 written by jakmin Tidak terasa bulan suci Ramadhan akan segera berakhir. Umat Muslim di seluruh penjuru dunia akan bersiap menyongsong hari kemenangan di Idul Fitri (Lebaran) mendatang. Momen Lebaran sekaligus juga merupakan masa libur panjang yang kerap digunakan masyarakat untuk mudik, berlibur, dan berkumpul dengan anggota keluarga. Hal yang semakin membuat istimewa libur Lebaran kali ini berbarengan pula dengan masa libur sekolah dan kuliah, sehingga waktu libur di cuti Lebaran tahun ini cukup panjang. Kami mengadakan survey kepada 2.928 responden di seluruh Indonesia untuk mengetahui agenda cuti Lebaran mereka mendatang. Secara umum, mayoritas responden mulai mengambil cuti Lebaran sejak H-3 Lebaran. Beberapa responden lain bahkan baru mulai mengambil cuti setelah hari Lebaran. Sejumlah aktivitas khas menjelang Lebaran juga menjadi agenda yang akan dilakukan responden. Setidaknya, acara mudik, berkumpul dengan keluarga, refreshing, belanja, dan berbenah rumah menjadi agenda wajib bagi mereka. Berkaitan dengan rencana berlibur, 73% responden dalam survei ini menyebutkan bahwa mereka berencana pergi liburan di momen cuti Lebaran ini. Bagi mayoritas responden, rencana liburan tersebut bahkan sudah dipersiapkan jauh sebelum Ramadhan. Menariknya, meskipun momen Lebaran merupakan perayaan hari suci umat Muslim, namun selebrasi berupa rencana berlibur di cuti Lebaran turut dimeriahkan oleh umat agama lain. However, though muslims are the majority of people who live in Indonesia, there are also people with other religions who live here. Regarding to that matter, recently JAKPAT has conducted series of survey in order to see how people with other religions (Catholic, Christian, Hindu, Buddha, and Konghuchu) adjust with the fasting custom of the muslims. This survey was conducted to 961 respondents of JAKPAT who don’t fasting but live among fasting people. Apparently, we found that many of non-muslims respondents did ask for permission first before they were eating/drinking in front of fasting people. Muslims break their fast at the time of the call to prayer (adzan) for the evening prayer (Maghrib). Iftar is also well known being called as “break-fasting”. With this new custom during Ramadhan, we would like to see the habit of Indonesian muslims when they are having iftar. Regarding to that matter, recently JAKPAT has conducted series of survey in order to see how Indonesian muslims’ habit and preference when having iftar. In this part of the survey series, we focus on the iftar habit of respondents with “college student” educational/occupational status.This survey was conducted to 985 respondents of JAKPAT who are college student.
