Herbal Medicine: The Indonesians "First Aid" for Catching a Cold? – Survey Report

Catching a cold or widely known in Indonesia as MASUK ANGIN is the most common symptom of getting sick that is often experienced by many Indonesian people. There are many ways to overcome this cold and one of them, which is the most popular way, is to take herbal medicine for colds. Manufacturers who offer herbal medicine for cold in Indonesia are not so many and you could say the opportunity to enter this market is still large. Regarding this matter, recently JAKPAT has conducted a survey that conducted among 1879 respondents in Indonesia. The goal of this report is to understand how consumers consume their herbal cold medicines. Furthermore, this report intends to give marketers a better understanding of how consumers see herbal cold medicines compared with pharmaceutical one.  You can find out more information in our full data report. Vlog Survey Series: Vlog Audience – Survey Report

Along with the emerging “vlogging” phenomenon, it creates a new category in the media audiences: vlog audiences, or people who frequently watch the vlog. Indeed, the vlogging phenomenon won’t be this ‘happening’ without active audiences involved in it.

The activity of vlogging is a two-way relationship between the vlogger and the audience. Hence, observing the phenomenon won’t be complete unless we see both sides of the coin. In order to do that, Jakpat recently conducted a survey regarding to people who consume video content, or in other words, who frequently watch the vlog, which in this survey we refer as “vlog audiences”.

This survey was conducted to 2444 respondents from across Indonesia who are vlog audiences, which we found from the preliminary question. Apparently, “looking for new reference/knowledge” (61,43%) is the most common purpose for watching vlog, chosen by respondents. You can find out more information in our full data report.   • The Reason – why they watched vlog in the first place.

Open Trip Traveling – Survey Report

The open trip is a kind of trip/holiday package arranged by travel agents which enables us to go traveling with other people whom we might not know before (complete strangers) in a group. Almost all of the accommodations, travel destinations, schedule, and activities are arranged by the travel agents. This kind of trip is mostly loved by youngsters who like to explore and meet new people. Regarding this matter, recently Jakpat conducted a survey in order to get people’s insight regarding “experiencing” and “inexperienced” the open trip traveling.

This survey was conducted to 1774 respondents from across Indonesia who love to travel, which we found from the preliminary question. Apparently, “suitable price” is chosen by most respondents who have experienced the open trip (68,2%) as the reason why they joined it. You can find out more information in our full data report.

In the fourth week of September 2018, the issue of the 2019 presidential election was slightly displaced by the earthquake and tsunami in Palu-Donggala. The disaster was a major concern of respondents on several platforms, both social media, Youtube and online news.

Mom-Shaming: Perspective of Mothers – Survey Report

Motherhood is non-stop decision making and trial error. Starting with the decision about the child’s feeding methods, sleep habits, education, to daily decisions about the child’s discipline and health/safety. According to a survey from US Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan, six out of ten mothers of children ages 5 and under have been criticized for their parenting choices. This so-called “Mom-shaming” comes most frequently from their family.

Regarding this matter, JAKPAT has conducted a survey towards 574 mother respondents in order to see how Indonesian mothers perspectives and experiences regarding Mom-shaming. This survey focus on 2 topics; mothers who have experienced shaming or judging and mothers who actually have the potential to become mom shamer.

Digital Parenting: The Habit of Online Information Seeking – Survey Report

Technology and the Internet, in particular, have drastically changed the way we receive information. Although technology use is increasing among all populations, PARENTS are more connected to and enthusiastic about technology than non-parents (NTIA, 2011). Recent reports from APJII (2017), the number of internet users in Indonesia has reached 143 million people with the highest internet users is Age 19-34. The internet has become an increasingly important tool for parents, especially for Millennial Moms and Dads. Parents are increasingly turning to the Internet for information about their children and parenting issues.

Relevant to that matters, JAKPAT has conducted a survey in order to see how parents use the internet and their behavior in getting information about Parenting. This survey aimed towards 1,751 respondents nationwide. All respondents in this survey are married and have children. Several topics that would be covered in this report such as; identify the information parents most frequently searched for; parents sources of information; the effect of Internet-sourced information had on parents; who influence parents about parenting information.

2019 Indonesia presidential election has been dominating topic on several platforms, such as social media, YouTube, and online news.  In addition, several issues appeared in the top discussion on several platforms in the second week of September 2018, including Reza Arap on YouTube, 2018 Asian Games, #CrazyRichSurabaya as one of the jokes from the euphoria of Crazy Rich Asian, and many more.

We know that consumers now have so many ways to access information that matters to them, hence, they are very active across media platforms. What media do they consume? what topics they take an interest on? which media contents they like to read/watch? The Trend-Track study is initiated to capture what’s currently happening across media platforms on a biweekly basis. This report could become a reference for marketers in choosing which media to use to communicate with consumers, as well as providing a context in understanding consumers’ topics of interest in media.

Moms Perception Towards Sweetened Condensed Milk – Survey Report

Recently, Indonesia National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) and Ministry of Health Republic Indonesia announced that the sweetened condensed milk (susu kental manis, herein after referred to SKM) is not categorized as milk product, as it contains much higher amount of sugar and calories instead of the protein. This condition led to controversy among society and business as it has been long consumed as a milk drink. Responding to this condition, we would like to examine respondents awareness about this issue, their response, as well as their possible changing consumption pattern of SCM. This survey is aimed towards 296 respondents nationwide. All respondents in this survey are married female/mother segment. Our basic consideration of choosing this segment due to the significant role they play in deciding her family meals consumption. As the result of this survey, we find that respondents awareness about this issue is quite high and it affects their SCM consumption.  Furthermore, this data would be beneficial especially for those who work in the food and beverages/eatery industries, as well as the fast-moving consumer goods company.
