Break Fasting Trend in this Ramadhan Month – Survey Report

by jakmin June 29, 2015
written by jakmin

Ramadhan season has come back again this year. Many people are waiting for this festivity because this is the time where people can enjoy their fasting and come to their own homeland to meet all of their families at the end of the month. During the Ramadhan month we can see a lot of street vendors selling traditional food and restaurants will be very pack before 6 PM. However, in this survey we want to see people’s behavior when they break their fasting every day. In this survey, we conducted some survey with 535 respondents that respond to this question.

#1 Where do people prefer to break their fast?

From the multiple answers that we get from respondents, around 85% of the respondents prefer to break their fast in their home. In our opinion, breaking fast in home is the most preferable because usually in this month people could leave early from the office. Therefore, they have enough travel time to break fasting in home with their lovely one. People also tend to continue with praying after breaking fast in home with their own family rather than to spend time break fasting in other places. The 2nd most favorite place to break fasting is food court in mall. Break fasting in food court is also preferable because there are a lot of foods and the price is still relatively cheap compared to restaurant outside the food court.

Q1 (multiple answer) : Where do you prefer to break your fasting? Total
Option 1 : Home 454
84,86%
Option 2 : Office 56
10,47%
Option 3 : Food Court in Mall / Restaurant in Mall 122

Option 4 : Restaurant outside the Mall 72

Option 5 : On the road (small vendors / jajanan kaki lima) 96
17,94%
Option 6 : Other 9

Total 809

#2 Who usually accompany you when you break your fasting?

As observed before, family gathering is one of the reasons why people like Ramadhan month. People love to be accompanied by family during the Ramadhan month because it’s one of time all the family member in the house can gather together at the same time. Around 84% of the respondents say that they love to be accompanied with their own family. The 2nd option is friend with around 26% of respondents love to be accompanied by them. Why close friends? Usually during the month we can see a lot of Buka Bersama or BukBer (breaking fast together) organized. From high school friends, university friends, office friends, etc.

Q2 (multiple answer) : Who usually accompany you when you break your fasting? Total
Option 1 : Family 450
84,11%
Option 2 : Close Friends 140
26,17%
Option 3 : Colleagues (Office friends) 105

Option 4 : By yourself because you are on the road or stuck in traffic 51
9,53%
Option 5 : Boyfriend/girlfriend 74
13,83%
Total 820
153,27%

#3 What is your favorite food when you break your fasting?

Then come the interesting part of the survey. Almost 96% of the respondents say that Indonesian food was the most favorite food which they prefer when they break their fasting. Ramadhan month is very associated with Indonesian culture. Almost all the food that we eat during the month is Indonesian food. We can see street vendors selling pisang goreng (fried banana), traditional snack food, Padang food, etc. During this month, we can eat all Indonesian delicacy as it’s not common if we don’t break fasting with Indonesian food.

food-fasting#4 Do you usually break fasting with your big family and friends during Ramadhan?

Around 87% of the respondents usually spend time to break fasting with the big family and friends during Ramadhan. Only 13% of respondents don’t spend any time to gather with their family and friends. That’s why we can see why restaurant is always full with the big party at the table as they usually spend their breaking fast with more than 5 people at the same table.

Q4 (single answer) : Do you usually break your fast with your old friends / big family in Ramadhan? Total
Option 1 : Yes 470
87,85%
Option 2 : No 65
12,15%
Total 535
100,00%

#5 What is your preferable time to break fasting with big family or old friends?

We also asked our respondents what is their favorite time to do BukBer. Close to 43% of the respondents prefer to do BukBer during the 3rd week of Ramadhan. The reason why people favored this time because usually people still enjoy break fasting at their home during the 1st week and they prefer to enjoy home cooked food. Another reason that we suspect why people love 3rd week of Ramadhan to do BukBer is because usually they already got THR. Therefore, they can spend their money in fancier food and continue with shopping at the mall. 2nd week of Ramadhan also was favored by the respondent followed by the 4th week of Ramadhan. People usually didn’t do BukBer in the 4th week of Ramadhan because usually some of them start to pack their bag to do homecoming.

Q5 (single answer) : What is your preferable time to break the fast with your old friends / big family? Total
Option 1 : 1st week of Ramadhan 35
7,45%
Option 2 : 2nd week of Ramadhan 183

Option 3 : 3rd week of Ramadhan 206

Option 4 : 4th week of Ramadhan 46
9,79%
Total 470
100,00%

#6 Where is your preferable place to do BukBer with your old friends or big family?

Around 52% of the respondents prefer to do BukBer in food court or restaurant inside the mall. This option is one of the most logical options for people to do Bukber, as usually going to mall is very convenience and they will have a lot of options. Therefore, in the 2nd or 3rd week of Ramadhan, we always see all the food court and restaurant are packed 1 hr – 2 hr prior breaking fast time. They will continue later on probably for another 1 hour after breaking fast time to chit chat, and then usually they will go for shopping. The 2nd favorite option was restaurant outside mall with 46% of respondents choose this option. Going to restaurant outside mall also is considered convenient because many people also think that they are lazy for going to the mall because the mall is so packed. During this month we also see on the road usually people will visit another one’s house to do BukBer and sometimes it causes traffic jam. That’s why that around 36% of the respondents also pick home as their favorite spot to do BukBer.

Q6 (multiple answer) : Where is your preferable place to break the fast with old friends / big family in Ramadhan month? Total
Option 1 : Home 171
36,38%
Option 2 : Food Court in mall / Restaurant in mall 243

Mobile Security – Survey Report

by jakmin June 22, 2015
written by jakmin

When you step out of your house, what do you take with you? Of course, you will take your keys, and perhaps your wallet. As well, you will probably take your phone with you wherever you go. People are attached to their phones, and this is because the phone could be more than just a communication device. It is also a tool to use for finding directions, taking pictures, listening to music and more. That means that if a phone gets lost, stolen or misused, there could be devastating consequences. Information could be leaked, scams could be made and important files may be erased.

Because losing one’s phone is a very inflables real concern, JakPat wants to know what people think about or are doing about mobile security to protect their phones and information. This survey report contains the responses from 506 respondents.

About 1 in 3 do not bother to lock their mobile device. cheap water trampoline Nearly three-quarters (74.41%) say that it is “too cumbersome to unlock their phones” every time they need to use it. A little more than a quarter (27.65%) have a more optimistic view and say that they are “not worried about anything happening to their phone.” About 1 in 10 say that they often forget their password, and a smaller percentage (6.47%) say that even with a password lock, their phone can still be unlocked if it is stolen.

4

That said, most people do use a PIN or password to lock their phone. The trend is similar across age groups – about 2 in 3 have their phones locked. Of that group, 1 in 4 change their password regularly for greater protection.

1

People lock their phones for many reasons; the two biggest reasons are for privacy and security concerns. Security, the confidentiality of the information on the phone, is cited by 22.62% of respondents. Privacy, the appropriate use of the information, is cited by 31.55%. Nearly half (45.83%) cited both as reasons for locking their phone.

2

The majority of phone owners do allow someone else access to their phones. When asked who else knows their password, less than a third (32.44%) say that they are the only one who knows. Nearly a quarter (23.21%) share their password with 3-5 people and a fifth (20.25%) share it with 1 other person.

5. people know phone password pin

Of those who do share their password, they are just as likely to share it with their boyfriend/girlfriend (38.1%) as they are with their best friend (36.9%). More than one-fifth (22.62%) also share it with their brother or sister, and less than a tenth with their parents (8.63%). Based on gender, males are not likely to share their password in comparison to females. Women are likelier to share their password with best friends, siblings and parents.

6. people who know password pin

3

Losing one’s phone is a very real fear. More than half of respondents (55.93%) worry about “losing or getting their phone stolen.” However, a good percentage (41.5%) remain optimistic and believe that “there is a very small chance of that happening.” Females are much more worried about losing their phone.

5

Are people proactive when it comes to protecting their security and privacy? Phone trackers can be used to track stolen phones, and only 2 in 5 have a phone tracker installed. Perhaps the 26-29 years old age bracket are more tech-savvy as more than half of respondents in that bracket have one installed. In addition, there is a greater chance in finding a male with a phone tracker installed (46.06%) versus a female (32.83%).

Pick the Right Respondents for your Survey with JAKPAT

by jakmin June 18, 2015
written by jakmin

When running a survey, after you formulate the perfect set of questions the next important thing is to decide who will be your respondents.

Who are the perfect respondents? True, you will have to find those who are willing enough to answer your questions. But is it enough? Not really, in fact, not at all. The fact is you need someone who is not only willing to answer your questions, but also those who will give you the right insight you need.

Let’s say you’re about to launch a new girly cosmetic product, yet the ones willing to do your survey are older men. Will their voice matters? Will they be knowledgeable enough to answer your questions about the cosmetic formula or desired packaging? Not necessarily.

That is why you have to target the right people to help you answer your questions. Which, fortunately, is made easy when you create a survey using JAKPAT.

First and foremost, you won’t have to search high and low for people who are willing to answer your survey, JAKPAT got it all covered with its more than 40k respondents from all over Indonesia, coming from all age range and backgrounds.

Now, what you have to do is picking who will be suitable enough for your survey from JAKPAT respondents. You can search from their basic profile such as age and city, to something even as specific as Hijabers, online shoppers, gamers, Moms with kids, etc.

But what if you cannot find the specific profile you’re looking for? No worries, you can always do a screening test. In which you’re asking the respondents whether or not they are the target you’re looking for (do they wear a certain make up brand? Are they mother with 8 year old kids? etc).

Now that you know how easy it is to pick the perfect respondents with JAKPAT, you may want to start creating your survey right now, right?

Ad-testing Survey

by jakmin June 18, 2015
written by jakmin

There are so many things to consider when you are about to launch an ad, as it is one of the most effective ways to reach out to your customers. When creating an ad, we simply gotta do it right, because one wrong step, it can backlash and give you loss instead of the desired profit.

Now, what are the things to consider when creating an ad? Here are some to take note of:

Create something your customers will notice. I mean, why would you spend some million bucks just to be forgotten, or even worse, not even seen. You need something that will capture your customers’ attention, better yet, impress them and make them spread it to their friends (talk about it or share it in their social media timeline).

The next thing we gotta think about is the effect on your customer. Make sure you create something that will increase the buying intention, or stamping your brand in your customers’ mind for days. One way to do it is to get attached to them emotionally, let your customers’ feel happy or touched with your ad. Make them feel like a part of your story.

Let’s not forget about how your brand name is communicated in your ad. Now let’s say you have a captivating ad that touches people’s heart and is embedded in their minds, but what good will it give if they can’t tell what brand is the ad about? Remember that this does not necessarily mean repeating your brand name throughout the ad (if anything, that would be annoying), instead, try integrating the brand into the ad.

Now that you’ve figured out what’s important to create an ad, you might want to see how people see your ad, and it it had all those important aspects covered. That’s why ad-testing is important. Letting a little portion of people see if your ad is well liked and will be effective, or if there needs to be any adjustment.
